Mark Thatcher
has pleaded guilty to charges over the plot to overthrow the government of Equatorial Guinea.
In a plea bargain deal where he also dished dirt on
former comrades Mark Thatcher admitted to charges of allowing a
helicopter he owns to be used in the attempted to overthrow the
government in Equatorial Guinea.
In return Mark Thatcher received a suspended jail
sentence and a quarter of a million pound fine. Despite the fact that
Equatorial Guinea police wanted to interview him (understandably) he was
allowed to go free and has left the country, no doubt to eventually join
his family in the USA.
The ANC has described the ruling as an "abomination" and
a "miscarriage of justice". It seems that multi millionaires can attempt
to overthrow governments in Africa with relative impunity. Mark's Mum
said she was delighted with the news.
