Irish left wins union leadership
Billy Lynn, a long standing member of the Socialist Party in
Northern Ireland, was elected President of the NIPSA union at it's conference
last week.
NIPSA is the largest trade union in Northern Ireland representing 43,000 members
across the civil and public service and the voluntary sector.
Additionally, among motions passed at the conference was one supporting the non
payment of water charges - a community campaign which is opposed by
all the political parties. The front page of the Belfast Telegraph read "Top
