Respect Push Labour into 3rd Place in Millwall
In the by-election that took
place yesterday (Thurs) in Millwall, Respect’s candidate Paul McGarr
came from nowhere to push Labour into
3rd Place.
Respect supporters last night were jubilant at the result.
Paul said “ On the elections
on June 10th, Millwall was one of the worst results in
East London. Out of 17 wards in which
we stood it ranked 15th and we finished a poor 4th
behind the Liberals, Labour and Tories. This means that we have a good
chance of taking these seats in the General Election.”
He went on to say “ I would
urge people to now get up to
Hartlepool to help them with their
campaign. Respect has a really good chance of getting a good vote
there.”
Results are as follows
Conservatives
828 (35%)
Respect 635 (27%)
Labour 571 (24%)
Independent
195 (8%)
Lib Dems
150 (6%)
