i.
what do you think is the most important issue in this election?
Sustainability:- The threats to our future on this planet

ii.
why did you make the decision to stand in this constituency and for this
party (as an independent)?
1. I live here 2. Despite the issues around (i) above most other politicians
seem to be either sleepwalkers, liars, hypocrites or all three!

iii.
what kind of vote are you expecting on May 5th?
We will do what we can. I would like to win.

iv.
aside from the vote what are you hoping to get out of this campaign?
Personally not very much. The Green Party will continue to grow, but time is
short.

v.
in your view what is the greatest threat to our civil liberties at the
moment?
The executive, closely followed by the apathy of large numbers of us.

vi.
Blair has taken us to war three times since coming to power (not including
the occasional ad hoc bombing raid) in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Can war ever be justified?

Yes, but certainly none of Blair's wars can, in my view. Regarding
Afghanistan and Iraq, It was perfectly obvious to me and most Greens that Bush
was intent on war the minute he came to power; and that Blair was going to
follow him come what may.

vii.
There is very little left to privatise in this country, if you had your way
what would be brought into public hands?

Certainly the railways. I personally would like to see key utilities like
energy; and the prison service back in complete public hands. I also deplore
the outsourcing of other public institutions, nit least public sector
workers' pension funds, to incompetent fat-cat private companies like
C[r]apita.

viii.
Some environmental campaigners have started talking about nuclear power as a
way to bring down CO2 emissions - what do you think of this?

Interesting but not realistic certainly at present. It may be that in the
future that the very dangerous technical problems associated with nuclear
power may be solved, (although its unlikely that the threats to
installations from terrorist will be), but it was and remains little short
of criminally irresponsible to have embarked on the nuclear road before
problems of waste management had been solved. We are leaving a very
dangerous legacy to our children. Far more should and could be done to stop
using so much energy in the first place!

ix.
Asylum and immigration will be central issues in this election.
What action on this issue would you like to see the next government push
through?

To deal with the mess in an effective way. We should retain our erstwhile
reputation as a haven for the oppressed, whilst recognizing that we are a
small country with a population problem of our own. This means we need to
deal with applicants quickly and fairly.

x.
What question do you wish was on this list but doesn't appear?
What's your favourite football team?
