Iain Campbell, Ochil and South Perthshire, Scottish Socialist Party

i.

what do you think is the most important issue in this election?

Poverty. I want to put this issue on the agenda in Clacks and Perthshire. No other party wants to talk about it.  No other party Is opposing Privitisation or Globalisation. The voters of Gleneagles deserve the chance to vote against Globalisation.

ii.
why did you make the decision to stand in this constituency and for this party (as an independent)?

Because Poverty annoys me living in such a rich country. It should not exist. It is  getting worse not better.

iii.
what kind of vote are you expecting on May 5th?

Hoping for 5% of the vote

iv.
aside from the vote what are you hoping to get out of this campaign?

Experience of hustings and to meet a lot of like minded socialists who want to get involve in the local Alloa and Hillfoots ssp branch

v.
in your view what is the greatest threat to our civil liberties at the moment?

The disgraceful asylum laws and discrimination against anybody who is not white

vi.
Blair has taken us to war three times since coming to power (not including the occasional ad hoc bombing raid) in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq. Can war ever be justified?

NO

vii.
There is very little left to privatise in this country, if you had your way what would be brought into public hands?

Everything starting with bus and rail firms who are completely unaccountable. They are now getting money given to them by clacks council despite the fact they firstBus make millions of pound profit and treat their drivers disgracefully.

viii.
Some environmental campaigners have started talking about nuclear power as a way to bring down CO2 emissions - what do you think of
this?

Never. I want nuclear phased out a.s.a.p and then go on to phase out fossil fuels by increasing investment in wave wind and other renewable energy

ix.
Asylum and immigration will be central issues in this election. What action on this issue would you like to see the next government push through?

Welcome all asylum seekers. Reform media law to force them to report asylum issues fairly and factually on television.

x.
What question do you wish was on this list but doesn't appear?

What do you think about the levels of poverty in th UK today and what should be done about it?

Answer:

increase top rate corporation tax from 30 to 53%. Take everybody earning under 10,000 out of the tax system. Reduce V.A.T to 8% for most goods and increase it to 20% on luxury cars and other extremely expensive goods. Replace council tax with local income tax immediately making low earners pay less middle earners (20,000) slightly more and high earners more according to how much they earn, by having no upper limit on payment according to income.

Also What do you think of parties having to pay 500 to stand?

Answer:
It is a crude attempt to exclude parties that will represent people on a low income living in poverty that exist throughout scotland and the uk.
