An open RMT meeting to discuss the crisis in working class representation

Saturday 21st January 2006, 12 - 3pm. Friends House, Euston Road, London.

The RMT 2005 Annual General Meeting passed a resolution expressing concern that the current leadership of the Labour Party was continuing to pursue policies of privatisation, support for the Iraq war and the Bush administration and attacks on civil liberties.

The motion also asked the RMT to organise a conference to discuss the crisis in working class representation. Speakers to date include, Tony Benn MP, John McDonnell MP, Jean Lambert MEP, Colin Fox MSP, John Marek AM and Councillor Dave Nellist. The conference will not be used to promote the establishment of a new political party and will be a non resolution based conference. It will be an open public debate which will also discuss how best to address the continued decline in working class people standing for public office and the continuing low turnouts in elections.

All welcome
