FINAL ITINERARY FOR GLASGOW TO LONDON  RMT MARCH AND CAMPAIGN FOR RAIL RENATIONALISATION TO SAVE TAXPAYER £4.5 BILLION

This is the final programme of RMT's two week long 14 cities national mobile demonstration and march from Glasgow to London to put the case for rail renationalisation during the general election campaign. 

Scotland

Saturday, 16th April 2005 - Glasgow

12:30pm Assemble St Enoch’s Square - Rally at 1:00pm.   Speakers Bob Crow General Secretary; Bill Speirs General Secretary STUC; Tommy Sheridan MSP; Phil McGarry Regional Organiser RMT Scotland, Janice Godrich President PCS.  Move off approx 1:45pm – march finishes at Duke Street Railway Station

Sunday, 17th April 2005 - Edinburgh

11. 45 Am: Assemble Market Street and March through City to Brunswick Street.

2:30pm: Supporters meeting at CWU Club, Brunswick Street.   Speakers Bob Crow General Secretary and Colin Fox MSP (Convener of SSP).  

North East

Newcastle – Monday 18th April

12.15pm: Assemble for March through City at Haymarket Metro Station. 

1.00pm: Rally at Monument.

 6.30pm: Public meeting, Royal Station Hotel, Neville Street. Speakers – Mick Cash - RMT Senior Assistant General Secretary, Jim Cousins - Labour candidate

Newcastle Central, Kevin Rowan - Northern TUC Secretary, Dave Hopper - NUM.

 

Newcastle/Durham- Tuesday April 19

8.00am: Demonstration assembles and leafleting of Newcastle Central Station.

3.00pm: Demonstration assembles and leafleting in Durham city centre.

York’s & Humber  

York -Wednesday April 20

12.30pm: Demonstration assembles Clifford’s Tower for march through town to railway station.

5.30pm: Public meeting, Crescent Working Men’s Club, The Cresent.

Speakers include RMT General Secretary, Bob Crow.

Hull - Thursday April 21 

11.00am: Demonstration assembles at Hull station, also  leafleting of Jameson Street, King Edward Street, Queen Victoria Square, Princes Quay shopping centre, Whitefriargate and Old Town.

2.00pm: Join demonstration at junction of Mount Pleasant and Holderness Road for leafleting

Leeds -Friday April 22

12.00pm: Join demonstration for leafleting of Leeds station.

1.30pm: Join demonstration for Leafleting of Brigate Street area.

4.00pm: join demonstration Leafleting of Leeds station during the evening peak.

 

North West

Manchester -Saturday April 23

11.30am: Demonstration Assembles at All Saints Park for March to Mechanics Institute.

1.30pm – Public meeting Mechanics Institute. Speakers include Bob Crow - RMT

General Secretary, Alan Manning - North West TUC Regional Secretary,

Bob Wareing - Labour candidate Liverpool, West Derby.

 

Liverpool -Sunday April 24

11.30am: Demonstration assembles Pier Head for March to Hope Street.

1.30pm – Public Meeting at the Casa, Hope Street. All welcome. Speakers include Bob Crow - RMT General Secretary.

Midlands

Derby -Monday April 25

12.00: Demonstration assembles for march from Blue Peter pub roundabout to Derby Station.

6pm: Public Meeting Spot Conference Centre, Sacheverel Street. All welcome.

Speakers include RMT Assistant General Secretary Pat Sikorski, Gill Whittaker, PCS, Dave Roberts President Derby Trades Council.

 

Nottingham -Tuesday April 26

10.30am: Demonstration assembles Nottingham Station for leafleting of city centre and Victoria shopping centre.

4pm: Demonstration assembles for leafleting of Nottingham Station during evening peak.

6.30pm: Public meeting Royal Naval Association Rooms, Arkwright Street.

Speakers include, Bob Crow - RMT General Secretary, Alan Simpson -

Labour candidate for Nottingham South, Roger McKenzie - Midlands TUC Regional Secretary.

 

Birmingham -Wednesday April 27

11.00am: Demonstration assembles junction of High Street Union Street and march to Chamberlain square for Rally at 1.00pm.

6.00pm: Public meeting. Birmingham & Midlands Institute, Margaret Street.

All welcome. Speakers include, Pat Sikorski - RMT Assistant General Secretary,

11.00am: Demonstration assembles outside John Lewis for leafleting of city centre
